What is handpoke tattooing?+
Handpoke is a tattooing technique done entirely without a machine — each dot placed by hand, one at a time. The process of making the tattoo is still with single use, sterile, disposable equipment.
Does handpoke hurt more or less than machine tattooing?+
Although the honest answer will always be “all tattoos hurT, most of my clients find handpoke gentler. Without the vibration and speed of a tattoo machine, the sensation tends to be steadier — although longer sessions can result in more discomfort, this is no different than a tattoo made by machine.
How long does a handpoke tattoo take to heal?+
Healing time is broadly similar to a machine tattoo — typically 10 days to 2 weeks for it to be “topically” healed, with full healing underneath taking longer. Normally you will find the full end result of the tattoo looking its best around 2 months after healing. With some areas requiring differnt attaining, I'll always gives pecific aftercare instructions after the session.
What styles do you specialize in?+
In general my specialty is linework and mandalas. I will always be open to all types of work, and while I am experienced in a broad range of “styles” its best to ask and then we can talk to see if I am the right fit for your idea.
What are Line Tattoos?+
Line tattoos are a style of tattoo that forms a short or long, continuous line for specific part of your body, or connecting across the body. Smaller lines might be on the finger, forearm, or lower leg, while longer lines might be a continuous line from the finger going up the arm, down the back, down the leg, finishing at the foot. You can find example os this in my portfolio here.
I want a single line tattoo, is that something that you would do?+
Yes — ALWAYS! I love exploring how these lines can traverse bodies differently. I will always talk with you about the options for these pieces, making sure your wants and needs are at the forefront of the design process. These line piece tattoos are generally freehanded on, so if you have an idea that you want to see if it would work, I would love to schedule an appointment and make it happen.
Do you tattoo tricky places like fingers, hands, or ears?+
Yes — finger, hand, or ear tattoos are some of my specialties! I enjoy making pieces for fingers and hands, whether it is a small letter on the finger, or full floral piece on the hand, I am open to it all. Please be aware that ear tattoos are always possible, but your idea may be limited by the anatomy of your ear.
Is handpoke a good choice for a first tattoo?+
Very much so. The slower pace, gentler sensation, and simple, delicate style tend to make handpoke a comfortable, low-pressure introduction to getting tattooed. This does not mean it should be everyone’s first experience with tattooing, I am comfortable and patient enough to make work with those who have never been tattooed before.
Is handpoke tattooing safe and hygienic?+
Yes — I follow the same aseptic technique and use disposable “single-use” needles, as is the standards required of any professional tattoo studio in Germany, along with providing a clean work environment for my clients.
How much does a tattoo cost?+
Pricing tattoos is sometimes the easiest, and sometimes the hardest process. I work on a “by piece” pricing, where once we have an idea of what you are wanting, the size, scale, placement, etc, I will be able to give you a high and low estimate of the price. If you have a budget you are wanting to work with, i will always be open to working within it.
